NB Miscellaneous info

Alarm:
For anyone wanting to add to the alarm system, the alarm wire going
to the radio would be a good place to connect. Grounding this wire triggers
the alarm - the head unit has a switch which shorts this wire to ground
if one of the ears which hold the radio in are moved to the release position.
The correct wire is indicated by the sticker on the radio.
DRLs:
If you want to disconnect the DRLs, the relay is in position 8. The
relay panel is kind of behind the headlight switch, and is accessed by
removing a plastic panel above the pedals. You will need a Torx 20 bit.
From the top down, there are 2 rows of 6 relay positions, and then a third
row of (?). Relay 8 is in the second position of the second row. My TDI
did not have a relay in the first position. My DRL relay was marked "173"
in large white letters. When I removed it, the DRLs no longer came on,
and OBD2 did not complain (no check engine light). Note however, that the
Brake light no longer comes on when the handbrake is activated, either.
Don't know if it would still come on with a failure elsewhere in the braking
system. Be careful. BTW, I _like_ DRLs, so I put the relay back where it
belongs.
Other:
The fuel cap has a couple of notches in it, which allow you to hang
it nicely on the raised fuel filler door while fueling. :-)
